Easy Trip Green in Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse

  • An e-bike tour in the heart of the Chartreuse mountains. This 13 km itinerary covers a 225-metres elevation gain. It is suitable for all riding levels and crosses some of the many hamlets of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, with a splendid view on the Grand Som summit!

  • All the facilities are available in the village (bike rentals, food and drink).
    (1) From the Tourist Office in St-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, follow ‘Chemin de Perquelin’ on 600 m. Turn right onto the path that crosses and then follows the Guiers Mort river.
    (2) Once at the road, turn right to reach ‘Les Antonins’. After 2 km, enjoy a magnificent view over St-Pierre-de-Chartreuse against the backdrop of the Grand Som which culminates at 2,026 metres. Stay on the road named ‘Chemin de Gontière’...

    (2) Once at the road, turn right to reach ‘Les Antonins’. After 2 km, enjoy a magnificent view over St-Pierre-de-Chartreuse against the backdrop of the Grand Som which culminates at 2,026 metres. Stay on the road named ‘Chemin de Gontière’ to cross the hamlets of ‘Mollard Bellet’(2), ‘Gontière’ and ‘Mollarière’ (3), until Marchandière.
    (4) Here, turn right to reach ‘Chemin de Gérentière’. Once you get to the hamlet of Saint-Hugues, turn left onto the B-road D57B and follow it for about 150 metres. (Going straight, you could also visit the museum ‘Arcabas en Chartreuse’.)
    (5) Just after the bend, take the path on your right. After 1.2 km (6), turn right, cross the Corbelles stream twice, then follow ‘Chemin des Michallets’ (7) through the hamlet. At 7.6 km, join the B-road D512. At the Martinière campsite, turn left onto ‘Chemin de Villas’. You will cross ‘Les Murets’ (9), ‘Les Gorges’, and, by keeping right at the ‘Grand Logis’, you will reach the B-road D520b. Be careful as you cross the road to reach the path on the bridge ahead on you. Get to the D512 again. Before the bridge over the river Couzon, turn left onto ‘Chemin de Patassière’.
    (11) Follow it until it comes out on the D512. Here, go right to reach the village centre.
    (12) At the church, turn left and continue to the Tourist Office.
  • Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
    (1) From the Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse tourist office, take the Perquelin path. After 600 m, take the path on the right that crosses and runs alongside the Guiers mort.
    (2) Once you reach the road, turn right to go to Les Antonins. At the 2nd kilometre, take in the magnificent view over the commune of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse from the summit of Grand Som (2,026 m). Continue along the road known as the Chemin de Gontière, then cross the villages of Mollard Bellet (3), Gontière and Mollarière (4) as far as Marchandière.
    (5) Here, turn right onto chemin de Gérentière. At the hamlet of Saint-Hugues, turn left onto the D57B road, which you should follow for about 150 m. (If you continue straight ahead, you can also visit the Arcabas departmental museum in Chartreuse).
    (6) Just after the bend in the road, take the track on the right. After 1.2 km on this road (7), turn right, cross the ruisseau des Corbelles twice and take the chemin des Michallets (8) which runs through the hamlet. (9) At kilometre 7.6, join the D512 which leads to Martinière. At the campsite, turn left onto the Chemin de Villas. This crosses Les Murets (10), Les Gorges, and continues, keeping to the right at Grand Logis, to the D520b. Take care when crossing the road to reach the path on the bridge opposite. Rejoin the D520b, then the D512. Before the bridge over the Couzon, turn left onto the Chemin de Patassière.
    (11) Follow it to the end, then turn right onto the D512 to reach the heart of the village.
    (12) At the church, turn left to get to the tourist office.
