Only 15 minutes from Grenoble, the Sappey en Chartreuse is a small, quiet and very pretty village. After the village of Sappey, towards St Pierre de Chartreuse, is the Col de Porte, in the town of Sarcenas (village with many typical hamlets that we invite you to visit, you can enjoy the incredible view). A must-see in the Chartreuse massif, summer and winter. This is the starting point for hikes to the highest and most beautiful summits of Chartreuse:

  • Chamechaude, the highest point of the massif at 2,082 m;
  • La Pinéa which offers a 360 ° panorama to hikers, who can also take their dogs there;
  • The Charmant Som which bears its name very well and allows an easy summit, accessible to children and discover the atmosphere of the mountain pastures and the making of mountain cheese.

1 / It is reached via Grenoble (13 km) by taking the D512.
This corbelled road will offer you a beautiful view of the Grenobloise agglomeration. On the road, you can stop at the “Café des Alpes” with its panoramic terrace.

2 / Access via St Pierre de Chartreuse (14 km) via the Col de Porte.
A road very frequented by cyclists (thirsty for passes to climb) and bikers (thirsty for bends to cover). You will pass through the Col de Porte (1,326 m), the starting point for hikes to the summits: Chamechaude, Charmant Som, Pinéa). You can also admire the majestic Chamechaude (highest point of the Chartreuse massif, 2,082 m) before descending in the shade of the spruce trees.
