3rd weekend in JanuaryEntremonts
These two friendly journeys on snowshoe through the hamlets of the Entremonts are a great way to introduce both the young and the old to the valley’s heritage. There will be a variety of special events and opportunities to meet people along the way, as well as the chance to sample local delicacies.

This is the Chartreuse’s famous cross-country ski race for all fans of the sport. There are adult races in both classic and free style, the Chartrousine “race” for the young, and the “Petits Ducs” for 7 to 10 year olds.

This one day festival is a must for all fans of downhill winter sports: come and enjoy the slopes, as well as a barbeque, bar and concert.

For more than 25 years the Grand Duc, symbol of the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park, has been challenging the 1000 participants who test themselves on the mountain range’s hiking trails. Every year sees a new itinerary, 80 kilometres long and involving ascents totalling 4900 metres, to challenge single runners, pairs, and teams of five. With enthusiastic spectators, volunteers providing aid for the runners, and a convivial atmosphere, the Grand Duc makes for a great weekend

Every year this festival of French music brings established stars and new talents to the heart of the mountains, and provides an eclectic programme of music for all tastes and ages.

Entre Deux Guiers / Les Echelles
This new music festival in the Chartreuse valley runs over two days. Between soul, funk, rock, and rhythm and blues, there is something for everyone.
Third weekend of AugustEntremont le Vieux
This wonderful village festival features processions of cattle and lots of local food and drink. It showcases local traditions of basket-weaving, art and handicrafts. Taste the valley’s specialties: matafans (somewhere between a pancake and a waffle) and the local sausages.
First half of August
Classical music concerts in a variety of unusual and historic locations in the Chartreuse and Avant Pays Savoyard.
