Animals and plants

The Chartreuse enjoys a rich diversity of natural environments and wildlife. The forests are home to deer, foxes, badgers, wild boars and many other mammals, most notably the lynx.

Rounding a bend on one of the many hiking trails in the region, you may encounter a chamois or an ibex. Listen carefully, and you could hear the mating call of a black grouse. Look up, and you may see a golden eagle, or a European eagle-owl, symbol of the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park.

Whether you are on a hike or a gentle stroll, with every step that you take you will be struck by the scents and striking beauty of an abundant and diverse flora.
